Winning at Video Poker

June 21st, 2010 · No Comments

Playing video poker is a game a chance but you can have make odds in your favor by which games you play. Playing jacks or better video poker may payout more often but chances of hitting a big win is less likely. My personal favorites are double double bonus poker and triple bonus video poker. These video poker games have high payouts on 4 of a kind and I have hit several jackpots of 40k each. Hitting big jackpots like this does require a bigger bet, playing on ten dollar machines but even the five dollar machines you can hit some very good jackpots. Hitting four aces is more likley than hitting the royal flush which increases your odds of winning a major jackpot.

Video poker wins will come in streaks, when the machine is ready to hit hopefully you will be on the machine betting big to get that ultimate win. Not to long ago I watch someone playing video poker and she decided not to put in more money so only bet 1 credit and hit the royal flush which did not pay out hardly anything since the win is on max bet. Some people might say well if she was betting higher should probably would not hit the royal, this is not true the machine will payout even if higher bet when it is ready to hit. I have seen many wins on royal flushes anywhere from 20k and up. Winning at video poker is being on the right machine at the right time.

Basic Strategy for Playing Video Poker

July 24th, 2009 · No Comments

People use plenty of strategies to win the video poker. Some of the gamblers compare the video poker to slots and leave it on the luck. However, video poker is not slots and is not dependant on the luck factor alone. Though there are many strategies in practice, we will discuss the most basic one that keeps your money secure even if you are losing. This is a common strategy that applies to most of the casino games. Following this strategy, you need to know how much you can afford to lose at video poker, yet live comfortably.

Once you decide the amount you can afford to lose at video poker, put that amount into the bankroll. You will be now playing only on the money in the bankroll. Keep away from the credits, the lure and encouragements of friends and colleagues to bet more. As you will want to play daily, divide the bankroll into parts so that you can play daily. For each day, spend only the part you designated for betting. If you lose and finish your quota of the bankroll for the day, you should leave. Even if you are winning, it is recommended that you leave the video poker machine before your luck takes a U-turn to make you lose all you won for the day.

Do video poker offer better chances than slots?

January 6th, 2009 · No Comments

Everyone loves to play slots, but there are players who opt in for video poker. They know that this game offers them better winning chances than the plain slots do. They are correct and this game does offer one a better chance of winning. The reason behind is that while slots are purely dependent on luck, in video poker, both luck and skill are combined.

The skill of the person playing video poker determines a lot if they are going to win prizes. If you have played poker before, it helps. This game is just like the traditional poker game. The only difference is that in poker you play against real players, but in video poker you play against the machine.

Video Poker Variations

December 21st, 2008 · No Comments

There are now variants of the basic five- card draw due to newer video poker machines.

Jacks or Better Video Poker
This is the most common video poker variation, in which payoffs begin at a pair of jacks or better. 9/6 Jacks or Better refers to the full pay, which pays 9 coins for a full house and 6 coins for a flush. When played the machine with perfect strategy, it is believed that the return is 99.54 percent.

Tens or Better Video Poker
It is actually a variation of 6/5 Jacks or Better. Rather than a pair of Jacks, the minimum paying hand is a pair of tens. They also have very different full house and flush payouts.

Deuces Wild Video Poker

The four two’s in the deck can be substituted for any other card, for any rank, in any suit. When played with good strategy, this variation of video poker is believed to provide a theoretical return as high as 100.762 percent.

Bonus Poker Video Poker
This video poker variant is based on Jacks or Better. The difference is that bonus poker provides a higher payout percentage for four of a kind. It also has multiple versions featuring different bonus payouts based on the ranking of the four of a kind.
